Total Hip Replacements (AMIS )
An innovative surgical technique called AMIS (anterior minimal invasive surgery) is a forward step in the already successful area of hip arthroplasty.
The technique involves a small incision on the skin avoiding any muscle damage, cutting or unsticking of muscle tissue. Contrary to any other technique, AMIS involves a simple shifting of the muscle with the use of specialized tools, leaving even the articular pocket intact.
The benefits of AMIS Hip arthroplasty are:
• Minimal post-operative pain
• Blood transfusions are usually not needed due to the bloodless technique
• Reduced hospitalization days
• Minimization of dislocation risk, leading to no restrictions on movements and sitting
• Avoiding healthy muscles from damaging helps in natural walking and a quick return to daily activities
